The holiday season is officially upon us! Thanksgiving may hold a special place in the hearts of many Americans. For others, it can evoke a range of emotions, especially those who have experienced estrangement.

During my visits to the United States, I’ve had the privilege of celebrating Thanksgiving. I’ve experienced the joy of gathering with loved ones over a delicious meal. Still, the true meaning of Thanksgiving extends beyond tradition and cultural norms.

This year, I chose to celebrate Thanksgiving in a unique way: a solo trip to Barcelona. It was a much-needed escape, a chance to recharge and reflect on the blessings in my life. I’m grateful for the opportunity to travel, to experience new cultures, and to simply be.

I understand that this time of year can be challenging for many. You might be dealing with estrangement. Or, perhaps you simply don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in the traditional way. In any case, it’s important to find moments of gratitude and self-care.

As we approach the busy holiday season, remember to prioritize your well-being. Take some time for yourself, practice self-compassion, and celebrate your own accomplishments.

I would love to hear how you celebrated Thanksgiving this year! Did you gather with family? Did you take time for self-care? Or did you create your own unique traditions? Please share your experiences in the comments below.
